RECORD DESIGN

MARIA EDLUND
APPLAUSE
There are a lot of unwritten rules in the world classic music. Rules about clapping at a classical concert. Rules about publishing your music. Everything have to be perfect, done by the book and in the right order of your professional career as a classical musician. You don’t just publish our own stuff young lady.
By making this LP Maria says something else.

The recording is a live recording from Marias final exam from the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus.

Because of covid-19 there weren’t any people to applause her.

With these things in mind we named the record APPLAUSE.
In research we came across the story of the satyr Marsyas who lost a musical contest to the God Apollo. As punishment Apollo had Marsyas skin teared off.

We thought the story was fitting for this project.
